Sponsoring a Home

Jacksonville’s corporate community has sustained the HabiJax ministry through the home sponsorship program. Many socially concerned corporations have led the way with their continued generosity and together, we have built more than 1,500 homes in Duval County since being founded locally in 1988. Some of the corporate champions who have helped us provide quality, affordable housing to deserving, hardworking families include EverBank/EverHome Mortgage, which has sponsored 50 homes, Stein Mart, which has sponsored 41 homes, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida, which has sponsored 37 homes, Swisher International which has sponsored 30 homes, and Fidelity National who has sponsored 29 homes over the last 19 years. These philanthropic corporations and countless more have provided the financial capital and volunteer labor of employees, who have built alongside homebuyers helping to promote positive change for Jacksonville area families.

Full sponsorship for a HabiJax home is $65,000, with the opportunity for volunteers to construct the home over a seven-week period. Volunteers are guided by HabiJax professionals and AmeriCorp volunteers, all of whom are specially trained in the HabiJax experience. The elements of the seven-week build include tasks ranging from framing and lap-siding to painting and landscaping. The volunteer experience provides an excellent opportunity for team building, as well as promoting your company’s commitment to helping families in our community.

Many corporations and retail establishments are able to sponsor a HabiJax home and receive tax incentives under the auspices of a unique program funded by the State of Florida, the Community Contributions Tax Credit Program. We are available to review the details of the program to determine if your company may qualify.

Our development team will work with you to design a sponsorship package to specifically match your corporate giving interests. We also accept in-kind donations of construction materials, printing, professional development activities, homeowner education programs, special event needs, and administrative functions. Your gifts increase HabiJax’s ability to reach more families in need of quality, affordable housing.
