Thank you for your interest in our volunteer program!
Getting Started
All of our new volunteers are required to complete our online volunteer orientation. You can begin by following the New Registrations link to the left. The orientation takes about 15 minutes to complete, and at the end there is a Liability Waiver that must be printed out and signed. Please bring the waiver with you to site the first time you volunteer. This waiver will have to be resubmitted every year. Please remember that volunteers must be 14 and older to volunteer on a construction site and 15 and older to volunteer at the ReStore.
Scheduling your Volunteer Date
Once you complete the online orientation, the next step is scheduling yourself on the volunteer calendar. For volunteering on a construction site, you will look for the project Come to Serve 2009. If the Come to Serve 2009 project is not available on the day you wish to come out, that indicates that the day is full. If you are looking to volunteer at the ReStore, please click on ReStore Assistance. The ReStore has 2 shifts available for your convenience, and you are more than welcome to work a full day by scheduling yourself for both times. The calendar is updated regularly so please check back often! If there is a specific date you have in mind, we can usually accommodate a few extra people depending on the day. If this is the case, please call a member of the Volunteer Services team to assist you.
The Volunteer Day for Construction (Fridays and Saturdays):
7:30-7:45-All volunteers gather at the HabiJax Main Office for registration. ~The office address is 2404 Hubbard St. Jacksonville, FL 32206
-At registration you will be assigned a job for the day and receive directions to the job site.
8:00 -We will have a “Morning Circle” to begin the day and welcome out all the volunteers
-You will meet your team leader after Morning Circle and then drive yourself to the worksite to begin the days’ task!
11:30-12:30 -Lunch time! Lunch is on your own and can be taken on or off site. (If you are with a group, your group may provide lunch-ask your leader ahead of time about this.)
12:30 -Work resumes until the task is complete!
3:00 -Clean-up begins.
3:30 -Volunteer dismissal! Congratulations! You did something amazing!
The Volunteer Day for the ReStore (Tuesday-Saturday):
Please report to the ReStore at 5800 Beach Blvd. at your designated time. You will be given a task and more specific instructions from there.
Important Information
What to wear for construction : Comfortable work clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty or paint stained and closed toed, closed heel, hard-sole shoes. A hat, sunscreen and lightweight raincoat or rain poncho may be needed.
What to wear for the ReStore : The ReStore provides a ReStore Tshirt to be worn during each volunteer shift. Please wear pants or shorts that end around the knee. Closed toed shoes are required. No hats, please!
Tools are provided for both activities. A water cooler is always provided for any activity, but we ask that when doing construction you bring your own reusable cup or water bottle in order to eliminate the use of disposable styrofoam cups.

For construction, volunteers who are not part of a sponsored build will be assigned to serve where we need you the most. When a group signs up together, we make our best effort to keep all members together but your group may be assigned to multiple work sites. Your work day may include one or more of the following activities:
Panel Plant
Framing
House Wrap and Windows
Siding
Exterior Painting
Interior Painting
Landscaping
Punch Out
Rehab work
Roofing
Volunteers working at the ReStore will be assigned a variety of tasks throughout the day.
