Habitat for Humanity of Jacksonville, FL
Volunteer

HabiJax is a volunteer-driven organization. We welcome people from all walks of life to join us as we build affordable, high quality, houses in partnership with God and families in need.  Community volunteers play an essential role in our mission of eliminating substandard housing in Jacksonville.  Community Volunteers can help in one or more of the following areas:

  • The Volunteer Pledge Campaign is a way for volunteers to raise money as part of their volunteer experience. Similar to the idea of a Walk-a-thon, volunteers can collect pledges from friends and family prior to their volunteer hours, and bring the pledges with them to donate on their volunteer day. Instead of walking, volunteers will be collecting the pledges for building with HabiJax. This is a great way for volunteers to spread the word about their volunteer activities and to get others involved who may not be able to volunteer. Any volunteer, whether they are with a group or coming on their own, can download the forms here  and participate in this campaign to raise funds for home building. Please contact [ Stephanie Ransom ]  with questions.
  • Beyond Building is an information session for people interested in learning about all the ways they can support HabiJax through non-construction volunteering. Join us the 1st Saturday of every month at 10am or the 3rd Thursday of every month at 6pm at our main office at 2404 Hubbard St. Meals are provided at each session. For more information, click on the link above. Interested individuals must RSVP for this event by going to the Volunteer Calendar and signing up for the "Volunteer Information Session" date you wish to attend.
  • ReStore Volunteers prepare donations for display, assist customers, run the cash registers, and help keep the ReStore clean and organized.
  • The HabiJax Auxiliary is a special service organization comprised of men and women who share a common interest in supporting the mission and vision of HabiJax by participating in special non-construction volunteer opportunities in three distinct areas: administrative support, development support, and homebuyer support.
  • Individual Volunteers work in construction on Fridays and Saturdays and work in the ReStore Tuesday-Saturday.
  • Volunteer Groups of between 3-15 individuals from faith partners, corporations, schools, and civic organizations work at our construction sites on Fridays and Saturdays, as well as at our ReStore Tuesday-Saturday.
  • Other Volunteer Opportunities include serving on committees and leading workshops.
  • HabiJax AmeriCorps,  a domestic version of the Peace Corps, is an 11-month service member program that offers adults with some college or the equivalent work experience an opportunity to work for insurance, housing and living allowance while constructing, high quality, affordable housing in Jacksonville.
  • The Volunteer Recognition Program is a special apprecation program that rewards and thanks volunteers for their continued choice to volunteer at HabiJax.
