Together We Can Build Futures

The Hicks Prep Club and Scholarship Program is an academic enrichment program for students grades 7 – 12 who reside in Jacksonville Housing Authority, Section 8 or HabiJax housing. Program participants have the opportunity to apply for a scholarship to the University of North Florida to assist with the cost of tuition, fees, books and housing.

Hicks Prep Club

Through monthly meetings focused on test prep, life and employment skills, the Hicks Prep Club and Scholarship Program helps students prepare for higher education and reach their fullest academic potential.

Active members of the Hicks Prep Club and Scholarship Program participate in special events including a mentoring program, social activities, volunteering and University of North Florida engagement. Additionally, active members are eligible for monetary incentives based on grades and program participation.

The Hicks Scholarship Program

Provided by David and Ann Hicks, the Hicks Scholarship helps bring higher education within reach by providing scholarship funds at UNF to assist with the cost of tuition, fees, books and housing. Qualifying students can receive the financial support they need to complete their degrees with minimum student loans or other debts.

Scholarship Criteria

The Hicks Scholarship is awarded to students by UNF. Transfer students are also eligible for the Hicks Scholarship. To be considered, students must:

  • Currently or formerly reside in Jacksonville Housing Authority, Section 8, or HabiJax housing
  • Earn admission to UNF
  • Complete the FAFSA
  • Submit a Hicks Scholarship application

How to Apply

UNF considers admissions on a rolling basis. Upon University acceptance, qualifying students can apply for the Hicks Scholarship.
