Monte Walker is the President & CEO and has been with HabiJax since fall of 2020. His professional experience is extremely broad and diverse having served as a senior executive with the Coca-Cola Company as well as having held senior leadership positions in the nonprofit sector with Habitat for Humanity International, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, Gardner-Webb University and Alliance Defending Freedom. Monte and his wife Pam have been married for over 35 years and have two beautiful daughters, Alexandra and Autumn. In his spare time, Monte enjoys watching sports, golf, music, reading, spending time with his family and their two labrador retrievers.
Chris Folds is the Vice President of Fund Development and Community Engagement at Habitat for Humanity of Jacksonville (HabiJax). Chris’ first job out of college was with the HabiJax ReStore, where he worked cultivating donations of product from 2007 to 2009. Chris has also worked for The First Tee of North Florida, and for the Nonprofit Center of Northeast Florida in both fundraising and advocacy roles. He was elated to be able to return to HabiJax in 2017 as Director of Fund Development. Chris is a lifelong Jacksonville resident with a passion for his hometown. He is a member of the Rotary Club of San Marco, is a long-time volunteer for Leadership Jacksonville and a graduate of its collegiate program. Chris has a B.A. in history from Florida State University, and a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of North Florida. In his spare time, Chris enjoys playing golf, cooking, trivia, and most of all, spending time with his wife, Lauren, son James, and cat Chance.
Michael Kearney, CPA joined HabiJax in January 2018 to lead the Finance team and is currently serving as Chief Financial Officer. Prior to HabiJax, Mike retired after serving in the banking industry for over 29 years. From 2011 to 2017, he served as Managing Director in SunTrust Bank’s (now Truist) internal audit division. Mike’s team focused on SunTrust’s support functions with the most significant being Corporate Finance, Human Resources, and Finance/HR Operations. Within Corporate Finance, his team covered SEC and select regulatory filings. His team also performed SOX testing on behalf of management. Mike was previously a community bank CFO in Florida for four years and led SunTrust’s financial and regulatory reporting team from 1998 to 2004. Mike and his wife Barb are retired and have been married for over 38 years. In their retirement, they are fully devoted to their life-long interests with Mike serving the HabiJax mission and Barb tutoring at-risk teens and youth. Their son and daughter are grown so that leaves time for Mike and Barb to enjoy traveling, Jaguar football, lots of beach time with their dog Jaxson, fitness, and connecting with friends and family.
Jon Galbraith has been with HabiJax since February 2017 and is Vice President of Talent Management and Communications responsible for leading the vision, strategy, development and execution of human resources, learning and development, talent acquisition, organizational effectiveness, marketing, and communications. Prior to HabiJax, Jon worked with Acosta Sales & Marketing for seven years and with Stein Mart for 14 years with responsibilities focused on human resources, training, and organizational development. While at Stein Mart, Jon also served as a volunteer and sponsor coordinator for Stein Mart’s relationship with HabiJax. Jon was raised in Jacksonville and graduated from the University of North Florida with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration majoring in Marketing and Management. Jon met his wife, Sherry, at UNF and they are happily married with two children and a very spoiled Miniature Schnauzer named Lady. Jon also serves on the Board of Elders at Swiss Cove Christian Church where they have been attending since 2003.
Rod Borom is the Vice President of ReStore Operations at Habitat for Humanity of Jacksonville (HabiJax). Rod joined the team in 2009 as General Manager. In his current role, Rod is responsible for procuring high level donations with building trades, hotels, local manufacturers and distributors, and other local businesses. Additionally, in his current role, Rod oversees merchandising, budgeting, management staff, and various business operations to drive sales and profits for the ReStores. Previously, Rod spent 34 years as District Manager for Walgreens. Rod has served on boards for the Northeast Florida Building Association (NEFBA) Remodelers Council, the Chamber’ Professional Women’s Council, the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association, and the Southside Business Men’s Club. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin with a B.A. in Business Management. In his spare time, Rod enjoys traveling with his wife of over 40 years, Anne, and visiting his three children and 5 grandchildren.
Jesse James is the Family Engagement Director at HabiJax. She attended Davidson College in North Carolina and designed her own major in Community Development based on her volunteer work as a Bonner Scholar, a community service scholarship program, and has spent her life since then working with nonprofit organizations. Her experiences include teaching English as a Foreign Language in multiple countries abroad, writing and teaching curriculum for workforce development, managing volunteer programs, designing and facilitating training for other nonprofit organizations, grant-writing and reporting. Her previous roles at HabiJax include the Hicks Program Manager and Community Engagement Manager. She is currently pursuing her Master’s in Public Administration with a concentration in Nonprofit Management. Originally from Philadelphia, PA, she has lived in Jacksonville since 2015 and is passionate about reading, running, being a foodie and making the world a better place.
