Serving veterans

Among our staff, volunteers, and homeowners are many military veterans. They continue to serve our community in important ways. And we are committed to continue serving them.

Why focus on veterans?

HabiJax has already been serving veterans for years.

As we continue to serve all qualified homebuyers, we are also learning that veterans have unique needs and dreams. We want to better serve our veterans and forge stronger partnerships with whose who support them in many ways.

This Veterans’ Village is one new way to serve those who have served us as they build a stronger and more stable future.

“The transition from military life to civilian life can be challenging for veterans. A struggle to adjust, or difficulty obtaining essentials such as housing, employment, education and healthcare, can lead to homelessness, unemployment, or living with chronic health conditions,” says Jonathan Reckford, CEO of Habitat for Humanity International.

“At Habitat, we know that decent and affordable housing provides tremendous social and economic benefit. Veterans have sacrificed so much to serve our country. It is incumbent on us to serve them by helping them find long-term stability through safe and affordable shelter.”
