In a touching show of support for the future owner of a home on Lawnview Street in the Murray Hill neighborhood of Jacksonville, leaders from Arize Together, kasper architects + associates, Auld & White Constructors, and HabiJax gathered for a beam signing over the Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend. Those gathered wrote messages of hope and encouragement, often drawing from Hebrew and Christian Scripture. Though these words will soon be hidden by ongoing construction, these unseen blessings will endure and reflect the ongoing prayers and well-wishes of so many for the future resident of this home.

Participants also heard about the surprising gift that enabled HabiJax to build upon this lot. A resident of Murray Hill previously unknown to HabiJax had left his home and the land on which it stood to the nonprofit housing organization in his will. HabiJax only learned of this generous deed after the man’s death.

Volunteers will soon be on site to continue construction as part of the 2024 Women Build.
